Look! Behind I see the beginning and ahead I see the finish line.  We are not where we are going but we are neither just starting out.  We are not beginning, we do not have the full distance to travel, but we are not finished.  We are halfway.

I (Chris) enjoy riding my bike at our local park that has a 2.2-mile path winding around a beautiful lake.  Last year while riding my bike there my back tire went flat and I realized that I was at the 1.1-mile point, halfway from where I began and half way to where I was going.

We are very near the halfway point of the financial support we need to take the next step of our journey joining the Chinn’s in Ghana supporting the work they are doing there.  We are grateful and excited to have arrived at this point but the finish line is still ahead of us.  It is still in the distance.  There is still work to do.  There are still partners out there the Lord hasn’t connected us with yet.  But we see it, the finish line!

Traveling on this journey reminds me of what the writer of Hebrews said about the journey of faith in Christ, “…and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us…”.  Partner development is also a faith journey and one that requires patience and endurance.  Knowing that God has called us to serve Him and the people of Ghana and the churches we partner with in short-term missions, we trust that He will provide.  He’s provided half of what we need so far and we trust he’ll complete it!

Hebrews 12:1-2

Therefore, since we are surrounded by so great a cloud of witnesses, let us also lay aside every weight, and sin which clings so closely, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us, looking to Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is seated at the right hand of the throne of God.
