Near the end of the summer of 2004 the student pastor and his wife of our church announced that they were leading a team to Ghana in 2005 and asked for people to join the team. Dana immediately committed. I thought she was rushing into this just a bit. In October of 2004 an informational meeting was held to share the vision of the trip to Ghana. Dana was out of town with our children and asked me to attend and take notes. It was at that meeting God clearly made known that I too was to go. So, in 2005 I landed in Accra and received the Ghanaian welcome – Akwaaba!
God so moved in my heart on this journey that I returned in the summer of 2008 leading an entirely new team to Ghana and again in the summer of 2009. God was patient with me showing me all along the way that He had a vision and purpose for the rest of my life. On the trip in 2009 God also opened Dana’s heart to the same purpose. In late 2009 we began the process of application with WorldVenture and in June of 2010 we were officially accepted.
In less than three weeks Dana, Griffin & I, along with a team from NewBranch Community Church will arrive back in Ghana. Dana & I will be looking at things differently this time as we begin to visualize how different our lives will be once our full support is raised and we begin to live there full time. Our excitement level is off the charts.
Is God speaking to you about His purpose for your life? We would love to hear more about that so that we can pray for and encourage you.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the LORD, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart. – Jeremiah 29:11-13 ESV
